Po Shun Leong

Po Shun's passion for furniture design and architecture has spanned for over 50 years and across multiple continents. As a recipient of a Degree with Honors from the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London, he began his early career designing buildings and furniture in London and Mexico. National recognition for his designs led toward a diverse display of public collections, including the White House Collection of American Crafts, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Die Neue Sammlung International Design Museum in Germany, the Smithsonian Museum, and many others.

 

1958-1971

FOUNDATION- Trained as an architect from the Architectural Association in the UK, Po Shun moves to Mexico to design schools and retail buildings where he is recognized by architect Ramirez Vazquez and Manuel Alvarez Bravo for his iconic designs.

 

1975-1979

EARLY WORKS II- further development into fiberglass, wood, palm and fabrics for furniture applications.

 

1995-2007

CONVERGENCE- Po Shun's passion for furniture and art converge, morphing form and function into one-of-a-kind artwork.

1972-1974

EARLY WORKS I- the first furniture collections, some of which are now in the LA County Museum of Art, are developed and produced using fiberglass, leather and wood. 

1980-1994

WORKSHOP- Moving to Los Angeles allows Po Shun to open his own studio to develop and design furniture, and begins exploring the materials of wood as a form for art. His collections can be found in the White House (D.C.)

2008-Today

FULL CIRCLE- Today, Po Shun designs exclusively for MU Form. They can also be found in the Die Neue Sammlung International Design Museum in Germany, the Smithsonian Museum, and many others.
